A Bible for an age of common English

I will be honest; I didn't read much because all four copies went to people who needed them more than I. My granddad gave me an older edition of the Gospel of John, in the God's Word translation; reading the Word in a common vernacular was an indescribable blessing. Why limit yourself to reading scripture in an old and obsolete tongue when the Word comes alive in a language one truly knows?

Nice Bible and translation option

I am quite pleased with this Bible. The font is fantastic! And even though the cover is a faux leather, it is constructed well and is very attractive. I am using this Bible as a straight reading option (not for study or marking). It reads smoothly (altho the brackets sometimes trip up my eyes, but I'll get used to those I'm sure). As for the translation, I wish the word "grace" was not replaced as it is. Words like "goodness," "kindness," etc. do not capture the full meaning of grace, and this takes away from the depth of understanding of one's being saved by God's grace alone. Other than that, I find this translation more satisfying than the New Living Translation.
