The Lord’s Prayer: the Sixth Request

Don’t allow us to be tempted.
Matthew 6:13

What does this mean?

God doesn’t tempt anyone. However, we pray in this request that God would guard and keep us, so that the devil, the world, and our own bodies cannot deceive us or lead us into false teachings, despair, along with other terrible and shameful sins. We also pray that we will overcome these temptations which try to wear us down and in the end be victorious.
