Jesus Teaches on Prayer

Immersing ourselves in the teachings of Jesus helps center us in his truth. The single most significant piece of evidence we have regarding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the Bible. If you want to know what he really said, really did, and really claimed, you need to read the Bible.

Jesus is unlike any other person who ever walked this planet. Jesus changed the life and destiny of every person he encountered who saw in him the uniqueness of God’s Son, our Savior. —Dr. Woodrow Kroll

Wherever Jesus went, whomever he met, whatever challenges he faced, the Gospel writers were there. They kept a record of every important lesson Jesus shared with his closest disciples as well as the sermons he proclaimed to the huge crowds that followed him.

On Prayer

“But I tell you this: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.”
Matthew 5:44

“When you pray, don’t be like hypocrites. They like to stand in synagogues and on street corners to pray so that everyone can see them. I can guarantee this truth: That will be their only reward.”
Matthew 6:5

“This is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
let your name be kept holy.
Let your kingdom come.
Let your will be done on earth
as it is done in heaven.
Give us our daily bread today.
Forgive us as we forgive others.
Don’t allow us to be tempted.
Instead, rescue us from the evil one.”
Matthew 6:9-13

“Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find, and for the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8

He told them, “This kind of spirit can be forced out only by prayer.”
Mark 9:29
