Jesus Teaches on Love

Immersing ourselves in the teachings of Jesus helps center us in his truth. The single most significant piece of evidence we have regarding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the Bible. If you want to know what he really said, really did, and really claimed, you need to read the Bible.

Jesus is unlike any other person who ever walked this planet. Jesus changed the life and destiny of every person he encountered who saw in him the uniqueness of God’s Son, our Savior. —Dr. Woodrow Kroll

Wherever Jesus went, whomever he met, whatever challenges he faced, the Gospel writers were there. They kept a record of every important lesson Jesus shared with his closest disciples as well as the sermons he proclaimed to the huge crowds that followed him.

On Love

“But I tell you this: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.”
Matthew 5:44

“The person who loves his father or mother more than me does not deserve to be my disciple. The person who loves a son or daughter more than me does not deserve to be my disciple.”
Matthew 10:37

One of them, an expert in Moses’ Teachings, tested Jesus by asking, “Teacher, which commandment is the greatest in Moses’ Teachings?” Jesus answered him, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ All of Moses’ Teachings and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:35-40

God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.
John 3:16

“I have loved you the same way the Father has loved me. So live in my love. If you obey my commandments, you will live in my love. I have obeyed my Father’s commandments, and in that way I live in his love. I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete. Love each other as I have loved you. This is what I’m commanding you to do. The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends.”
John 15:9-13
