Jesus Teaches on Heaven & Hell

Immersing ourselves in the teachings of Jesus helps center us in his truth. The single most significant piece of evidence we have regarding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the Bible. If you want to know what he really said, really did, and really claimed, you need to read the Bible.

Jesus is unlike any other person who ever walked this planet. Jesus changed the life and destiny of every person he encountered who saw in him the uniqueness of God’s Son, our Savior. —Dr. Woodrow Kroll

Wherever Jesus went, whomever he met, whatever challenges he faced, the Gospel writers were there. They kept a record of every important lesson Jesus shared with his closest disciples as well as the sermons he proclaimed to the huge crowds that followed him.

On Heaven

“Sell your material possessions, and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that don’t wear out! Make a treasure for yourselves in heaven that never loses its value! In heaven thieves and moths can’t get close enough to destroy your treasure.”
Luke 12:33

I can guarantee that there will be more happiness in heaven over one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts than over 99 people who already have turned to God and have his approval. Suppose a woman has ten coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house, and look for the coin carefully until she finds it? When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Let’s celebrate! I’ve found the coin that I lost.’ So I can guarantee that God’s angels are happy about one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts.”
Luke 15:7-10

“My Father’s house has many rooms. If that were not true, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you?”
John 14:2

On Hell

“But I can guarantee that whoever is angry with another believer will answer for it in court. Whoever calls another believer an insulting name will answer for it in the highest court. Whoever calls another believer a fool will answer for it in hellfire.”
Matthew 5:22

“One day the beggar died, and the angels carried him to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. He went to hell, where he was constantly tortured. As he looked up, in the distance he saw Abraham and Lazarus. He yelled, ‘Father Abraham! Have mercy on me! Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool off my tongue. I am suffering in this fire.’ “Abraham replied, ‘Remember, my child, that you had a life filled with good times, while Lazarus’ life was filled with misery. Now he has peace here, while you suffer. Besides, a wide area separates us. People couldn’t cross it in either direction even if they wanted to.’ ”
Luke 16:22-26
