God’s Word for Today: October 1

Luke 11

Jesus condemned those who perform religious acts but don’t have a genuine relationship with God. He taught that religious rituals that aren’t backed up by a desire to worship can’t honor God.

Is there a “right way” to pray? Jesus teaches us how to pray according to God’s will in Luke 11:2-4 and Matthew 6:6-13. The Lord’s Prayer is divided into an introduction, seven distinct requests, and is often recited with an additional conclusion. What does this prayer mean?

Today, ask God to help you evaluate whether your prayers, church attendance, and work for the church are driven by your desire to honor God or to make yourself seem spiritual to others.
