God’s Word for Today: July 17

God’s Word for July 17

Isaiah 19:1 to Isaiah 23:18

God cannot tolerate sin. He will punish nations that do not glorify him for their success but take the glory for themselves instead. Notice the extent of God’s punishment of Egypt in Isaiah 19:1–25.

Why was Isaiah upset about the punishment of God’s people in Isaiah 22:4? Even though Isaiah knew the people had sinned and deserved to be punished, he deeply cared for them and wanted them to return to God.

Today, pray for government institutions and leaders. Ask God to give wisdom to the men and women in office so that they will look to him for guidance.
