God’s Word for Today: February 6

Deuteronomy 1:1 to Deuteronomy 5:33

After wandering in the desert for 40 years, the Jewish people were about to enter the land that God had promised them. Before they entered the land, Moses reviewed their history so that they could learn from their past.

Why was it necessary to recite the ten commandments? This was a new generation of Israelites. The current nation was either young or not even yet born when the commandments were given on Mount Sinai. The review was timely, as their devotion to God was about to be tested upon entry to the promised land of Canaan.

Today, ask God to help you learn from past failures and successes so that you can follow his leading today.
