God Promises You Can Stand Against Suffering

 

God’s life-changing word overflows with his promises of real love, forgiveness, salvation, peace, hope, and joy for everyone who trusts in his Son, Jesus.

These five passages encourage Christians that times of trouble produce endurance.

“Because oppressed people are robbed and needy people groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord.
“I will provide safety for those who long for it.”
The promises of the Lord are pure,
like silver refined in a furnace and purified seven times.
Psalm 12:5-6

But that’s not all. We also brag when we are suffering. We know that suffering creates endurance, endurance creates character, and character creates confidence. We’re not ashamed to have this confidence, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:3-5

Our suffering is light and temporary and is producing for us an eternal glory that is greater than anything we can imagine.

My brothers and sisters, be very happy when you are tested in different ways. You know that such testing of your faith produces endurance.
James 1:2-3

Keep your mind clear, and be alert. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion as he looks for someone to devour. Be firm in the faith and resist him, knowing that other believers throughout the world are going through the same kind of suffering. God, who shows you his kindness and who has called you through Christ Jesus to his eternal glory, will restore you, strengthen you, make you strong, and support you as you suffer for a little while.
