A Comparison of Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in times of trouble.
That is why we are not afraid
even when the earth quakes
or the mountains topple into the depths of the sea.
Water roars and foams,
and mountains shake at the surging waves. Selah

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
New International Version (NIV)
Thought-for-Thought (Functional Equivalence)
God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And so we need not fear even if the world blows up and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam; let the mountains tremble!
