I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the unity of believers, the forgiveness of sins, the body coming back to life, and living forever. Amen.
Although the Apostles’ Creed is not part of the Bible, it is an accurate summary of the teachings of the Christian church. The statements in this expression of faith date back to the first centuries of the church.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary gave birth to him. He suffered at the hands of Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was placed in a tomb. He went down into hell. He came back to life three days after he died. He went up into heaven and was given the honored position—the one next to God, the almighty Father [at God’s right hand]—on the heavenly throne. He will come back from heaven to judge the living and the dead.
