I have read various versions and translations of the Bible, and I am impressed with the contemporary approach of the GOD’S WORD translation. While I generally read conservative and literal renderings of Scripture such as the King James Version, New King James Version, and English Standard Version, GOD’S WORD translation provides a literal rendering of the text while updating it to modern language. It accomplishes a rare feat of combining ancient and modern, and it avoids the predicament many translations face when striving to be contemporary.
I would say that GOD’S WORD translation is the ideal modern rendition of Scripture for someone who wishes to approach the Bible scholastically but to not use archaic language.
It permits a thorough study of the Bible without using an array of words that many people would not recognize without some erudition in archaic conventions of the English language.
Also, the Deluxe Large-Print Bible is fancy enough to fit in any scholar’s bookshelf and the print is large enough to read without difficulty. I would recommend this Bible to anyone who wishes to have a linguistically accurate translation in contemporary English. The rendition does not insult an academic’s intelligence, but it allows one to study Scripture in a modern context against which many scholars tend to unfortunately harbor prejudice. Give this translation a try!
If one is a serious scholar of Bible translations, this translation is worthwhile to add to one’s collection alongside other well-respected versions such as the KJV, NKJV, and ESV. If one is just casually looking for a translation that is contemporary without being so modern so as to distort the meanings of the verses, this translation is a good place to start. I would recommend this translation, but I would recommend it alongside ESV and NKJV once one becomes more familiar with the linguistic approaches of various translations. From my perspective, GOD’S WORD is the best modern rendition one can find, but one should use it in tandem with other translations to acquire a greater linguistic survey knowledge of Scripture.
Ultimately, as far as I am able to discern, GOD’S WORD is ideal for both the beginning scholar and for the well-versed reader who is looking for a translation that is linguistically modern without being overly and unnecessarily culturally contemporary.
It doesn’t hurt that the Deluxe version has the aesthetic qualities to fit on any reader’s bookshelf without detracting from the tomes comprising the other selections.
Lastly, it would be an ideal translation to use for evangelism because many people are not familiar with historical words seldom used in modern conversation. If the goal is to bring someone to Christ, this translation is basic enough to accommodate that while not discouraging intellectual inquiry. Once the matter of salvation is secured, this translation can be used to encourage the study of versions of more antiquated language to provide an array of perspectives on the Word of God. But, again, GOD’S WORD is a good place to start, and if you are looking for a gift to give to someone, you won’t be thought excessively frugal with the Deluxe Large-Print Bible.

We’ve talked about the GOD’S WORD (GW) Translation of the Bible before, but recently God’s Word to the Nations Mission Society sent me two newer editions attractively covered in flexible Duravella—one a two-tone gray and the other a two-tone burgundy and gray.
Both editions have large print, but the latter also has wide margins, which encourage us to respond to GOD’S WORD with whatever thoughts or prayers come to mind. This “conversation” becomes a spiritual diary of sorts as we claim a Bible verse or prayer, especially if we add the date as a reminder. And, it can become a private study edition as we jot down insights and relevant notes, making this a priceless heirloom to hand down to the next generation.
The most important feature of the GW translation, however, is its accuracy. In an accompanying brochure, the “Word Choice” column lets us know: “The translation team chose words that were natural in context and as easily understood as possible without sacrificing accuracy or faithfulness to the original Hebrew and Greek texts of the Bible.”
When it comes to “Gender References,” the brochure explains that “GW avoids using words like man and he if the Hebrew of Greek is speaking about people regardless of gender.” If, however, the text refers to a specific group such as the Jewish council, which consisted exclusively of men, the text will reflect that.
As a poet and writer, I particularly appreciate GW’s “Translation Philosophy,” which does not “attempt to make all books or passages function on the same level. The more difficult books of the Bible are translated to the same level of difficulty as the original languages. In addition, abstract concepts in Greek and Hebrew are translated into abstract concepts in English, and concrete concepts remain concrete in translation.”
Both of these editions include an A to Z topical reference to Scriptures on “The Teachings of Jesus,” providing an excellent resource for Bible study. Both also contain A to Z topics with their biblical references for “Life Applications.”
If you consider the Lenten season leading up to Easter as a time of intense reflection, you might turn to Psalm 51 as a memory-booster prior to corporate or private confession. Many churches refer to that psalm during Lent, but one of my favorite guides into reflection or meditation is the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, which helps to align our attitudes with the ones the Lord wants us to have. Thanks to the highly readable GW translation, the Beatitudes become even more accessible:
“Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
Blessed are those who mourn.
They will be comforted.
Blessed are those who are gentle.
They will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God’s approval.
They will be satisfied.
Blessed are those who show mercy.
They will be treated mercifully.
Blessed are those whose thoughts are pure.
They will see God.
Blessed are those who make peace.
They will be called God’s children.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing what God approves of.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
Blessed are you when people insult you,
persecute you,
lie, and say all kinds of evil things about you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad because you have a great reward in heaven!
The prophets who lived before you were persecuted in these ways.”
Matthew 5:3-12 GW
May God help us to take GOD’S WORD to heart, soul, mind, and spirit in Jesus’ Name.
]]>My family has been acquainted with the GOD’S WORD Translation of the Bible for many years. These were the first full Bibles that our children read, and the translation was a perfect match for those young eyes. The language is clear, modern, and easy to access.
Any Christian would benefit from owning a copy of the GOD’S WORD Translation, and reading it from cover to cover. For new Christians, it provides a story-like flavor that encourages engagement and understanding. For the more experienced Christian, reading this version provides opportunities for added insights into otherwise familiar passages.
The Deluxe Wide-Margin edition is really stylish. The burgundy and gray cover is eye-catching and soft to the touch. The silver-edged pages give it a somewhat royal look. Overall, it looks pretty cool!
The interior includes a font that is large enough to read easily, though not too large to feel intrusive. The font is also dark black, which adds to the ease of reading. Titles and chapter headings are in a bolder, simpler font, making them pop off the page. Next to the single column of text is a wide margin for taking notes. There is plenty of space here, even for the most diligent note-taker.
This is a Bible primarily for reading. There are no lengthy study notes or introductions for each book, however, there are two useful indexes. One contains “Life Applications” which gives a list of Scripture references for such things as “Loneliness” or “Victorious Living.” The other index is a summary list of the “Teachings of Jesus,” and it includes short descriptions along with references for study. Additionally, this version contains “An Introduction to God's Saving Word” and an article explaining the procedures of translation for GOD’S WORD.
For any Christian serious about the Bible, I recommend owning, reading, and studying several different versions. The GOD’S WORD Translation is one of them.

]]>I’ve been a Christian for 30 years, actively reading the Bible in my adult life. It’s only in the last five years that I’ve become completely consumed in truly knowing God for myself, through His Word. I currently search the Scriptures and continue to thirst to know God more through reading his word.
One morning during my daily Bible reading, I’d come across a particular word in a verse that ignited my search for deeper insight. This insight is most often revealed to me through the original Hebrew and Greek Interlinear Bible. It was in this particular research of “God’s true meaning of his spoken word” that I encountered GOD’S WORD.
As I began to read GOD’S WORD, I was deeply touched as I had never previously experienced. What began as reading a verse in this version, continued into a chapter, and then an entire book of the Bible.
I now find myself having an extremely difficult time ending my reading of GOD’S WORD and I’m continuously preoccupied with the thought of getting back to it.
My experience in reading the GOD’S WORD Translation is as if I’m hearing God’s actual voice speaking to me and feeling the breath from his very mouth. It’s as if I’m reading the Bible for the first time, watching his word come alive, and being in the very presence of the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It’s a magnificent experience that I’m finding difficult to convey in words.
Having my heart flooded with the love of God through GOD’S WORD has brought sight to my eyes and hearing to my ears. GOD’S WORD provides the intimacy I’ve desired with God through a Bible since my search began five years ago.
I’ve taken the time to learn all about God’s Word to the Nation Mission Society and the “why” behind the GOD’S WORD Translation. I would like to thank every individual who made this Bible project become a reality. I will pray that God continues to reach more people for his glory through the Society’s passion for bringing the Bible to the next generation.
I thank God for answering the desires of my heart of wanting to know Him more and the Holy Spirit for leading me to GOD’S WORD.
I will definitely share GOD’S WORD with everyone I know.

“I am by profession a radio and television journalist, but I am also a lay evangelist, and in that capacity I am always looking for a translation of the Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek text which is both accurate and clear. Clarity matters, but accuracy matters even more. For my own private study I want a translation that is essentially literal. But for evangelistic speaking, writing, and broadcasting I want a translation that is CLEAR (without sacrificing literal accuracy).
For the former purpose I've tended to use the NASB or the NRSV.... For the later purpose I've tried the CEV and the NLT but have not been really satisfied with either. GOD’S WORD performs both these tasks better than any other translation I've come across.
So, for those purposes in which a combination of clarity (and simplicity of language) with accuracy and reliability is needed... GOD’S WORD seems to me to win hands down.
GOD’S WORD also seems to me to be an extremely valuable tool in tackling Biblical literacy—which is the source of unbelief and unfaithfulness in chuches, degradation in society, and great difficulty in evangelism.”

However, I have never had so many positive comments from people about a version of the Bible as I have received in reference to the GOD’S WORD version.
After extensive study, I am convinced that the GOD’S WORD version is, without exception, the most accurate, easy-to-read version of the Bible available on the face of the earth. It is a powerful tool for this new millennium that should be placed in the hands of every individual at every reading age level.”

“GOD’S WORD makes it so pleasant to read sizable portions of the Word every day. Before, it was a chore as I found myself having to do a lot of translation of various terms and phrases in my head before I could get what I was reading. But, thanks be to God, GOD’S WORD does not make me have to do that, so I am not made to be exhausted in the pleasurable activity of Scripture reading.
And, if that is not enough, when preaching, I do not have to say, following each Bible reference, ‘What that is saying is....’ It speaks for itself in just the hearing. That frees me up to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, make the point of the sermon, and enjoy the ministry in response. Does that say enough about how well I like this wonderful work?”

The GOD’S WORD translation has been a key ingredient in our efforts to reach people for whom ‘church’ itself has been an obstacle to knowing God; many of these same people have been blocked from a relationship with Christ by a misunderstanding that the Bible is boring and irrelevant to them. “I enjoy doing comparative translation studies. My method is to ‘listen’ to a certain Bible version via cassette while ‘looking’ at another. GOD’S WORD was the Bible I looked at as I listened to the NIV, NAS, or NKJV. This type of evaluation led me to realize just how excellent GOD’S WORD is as compared to these others. “I thank all of you for your faithful work. GOD’S WORD is a treasure. At first, I didn’t like it. This translation was speaking to my heart and I was uncomfortable. But as I stuck with it—checked the translation by going back to the Greek and reading in commentaries—the more I came to respect and trust it. Then the icing on the cake: when I personally experienced the powerful way GOD’S WORD communicated with new Christians, I started to love it and rejoice about it....
...Over the last two years God has permitted me to lead over 50 people to Christ or back to Christ. When I share Christ with them I read certain verses from three or even four translations—NIV, NKJV, NASB, TEV—but last I’ll read from GOD’S WORD. Invariably, when I read from GOD’S WORD their eyes will light up and they’ll say something like, ‘Wow! That was really clear. What Bible is that?’ I then give them a copy of GOD’S WORD and mark out what I want them to read.
GOD’S WORD is a wonderful, clear, and accurate translation. It’s a real blessing and I want to encourage you and everyone involved with it. Keep up the good work, keep the vision clear....”

Translated directly from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts, GOD’S WORD Translation Large Print Bible: The Bible in Clear, Natural English comes to us as
CNE: Clear, Natural English
—and—
Closest Natural Equivalent
Even the title of this translation is clear, natural, and the closest equivalent to the anthology of books we call the Bible—GOD’S WORD (GW).
To produce the fresh, reliable, relevant translation aimed for, biblical scholars and reviewers followed these guidelines established by God’s Word to the Nations Mission Society:
“The first consideration for the translators of GW was to find equivalent English ways of expressing the meaning of the original text, ensuring that the translation is faithful to the meaning of the source text. The next consideration was readability; the meaning expressed in natural English by using common English punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and vocabulary. The third consideration was to choose the natural equivalent that most closely reflects the style of the Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek text.”
What more could we ask?
And yet, there is more! Not only does this quality paperback use a 12-point font that aids our eyes and understanding, the single-column format provides the natural flow of text with which we’re familiar as we read any book in English. Chapter headings and sub-headings then help us to locate a passage easily and keep our place as we read privately or study with a discussion group. The book lays flat when opened too.
Free of distracting footnotes, the “Bible Study Helps” in the back of this reader edition offer such unique features as an A to Z topical guide with scriptural references on “The Teachings of Jesus” followed by an “Application Index” of Bible verses and the topics to which they refer.
But it’s the translation itself I love and appreciate. For example, Jeremiah 17:14-15 says:
“Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed. Rescue me, and I will be rescued. You are the one I praise. People keep asking me, “Where is the LORD’s word? Let it come.”
Yes! Let it come! And, as it does, may we truly listen and readily understand what God is saying to us.

Using natural English and the closest equivalent to the primary languages of the Bible, God’s Word to the Nations Mission Society has provided a contemporary version of The Apocrypha, which they kindly sent me to review.
The word “apocrypha” means “hidden” or “secret,” but the books really weren’t. They first gave hope and inspiration to God’s people during their exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, where the people learned to speak, think, and read in Greek, rather than Hebrew.
However, Jewish scholars decided not to include the books written in Greek when they canonized the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) many centuries later.
Nevertheless, during the time of Jesus most people—both Jews and early Christians—accepted the books as inspired, and New Testament writers even quoted them. Many more centuries later, the King James Version (KJV) of an English translation of the Bible included the books, where they remained until the Reformation.
Happily, these “deuterocanonical” books are now being returned to many English versions, giving us a clearer view of biblical times and situations that occurred between the old and new testaments. In addition to those historical texts, such as 1 and 2 Maccabees, the apocryphal books include wisdom writings relevant to today. Consider, for example, this passage from the GOD’S WORD translation of the Book of Wisdom, Chapter 1:
Verse 1. “Love justice, you rulers of the world.
Consider that the Lord is good.
Be sincere in your search for him.
Verse 2. Those who don’t test him will find him.
He will reveal himself to those who obey him.”
Verses 6b-7. “God is a witness to people’s hidden feelings.
He has keen insight into what they think,
and he listens to what they say.
The Lord’s Spirit fills the world.
The Spirit holds everything together
and understands everything people say.”
For another example, Wisdom 3 begins, “People who worship the true God are in God’s hands.”
And verse 9: “Those who trust the Lord will understand what truth is.
Those who are faithful will live in a loving relationship with him,
because he is kind and merciful to the people he has chosen.”
Another spiritually insightful book, Sirach, (one of my favorites) has this to say in Chapter 1, verse 13:
“Everything will end well for people who fear the Lord.
They will be blessed on the day of their death.”
Or Chapter 4:20 and 21:
“Don’t be ashamed to be yourself.
Don’t remain silent when one word could make things right.”
Or Chapter 10, verse 11:
“All authority on earth is in the Lord’s hands.
He will appoint the right leader for the right time.”
Amen!

“I really like this Bible translation for use by international students for three reasons: (1) its clarity and accuracy, (2) the page layout and arrangement, and (3) the reading level achieved without sacrificing the integrity of the English language.”

“It is such a blessing to have a translation [GOD’S WORD] from which I can teach correct English and grammar. I am passing my good impressions of your work onto our ESL consultant for world missions. It is truly a wonderful tool.”

“The Bible is God’s Word! It is the living Word of Jesus Christ. Our guidebook. Our lives will never reach their fullest potential unless we learn what God says about us in his Word.... The Word of God doesn't belong on a shelf, but in our hearts and minds. God’s plan for us is revealed in his Word.... I grew up going to church and hearing Bible stories, yet, even as an adult I recognize that sometimes translations of the Bible can be very confusing.... the GOD’S WORD Translation updates the living words of God to be more accessible to the 21st century believer, just as the King James Version was a breakthrough of understanding for its time. You don’t need a seminary degree for the GOD’S WORD Translation to make sense—just a little bit of time every day to hear what God wants to say to you. I have a passion to live for the One who created us. The GOD’S WORD Translation helps me do that. It’s a version that my children and I can read and understand together.”

“It is truth alone that capacitates any soul to glorify God.”—John Owen
“New translations of the Bible abound today, but many fall short because they ‘dumb-down’ its meaning to try and appeal to man and in doing so fail to glorify God. Conversely, the GOD’S WORD translation of the Bible stands head and shoulders above its peers. It uses clear, contemporary language of our day and still ‘guards the trust’ of the rich meaning of the Scriptures. Being a parent of five children this balance is so vitally important. All my kids have enjoyed reading the GOD’S WORD Bible and, more importantly, understanding its great truths. Thank you for the valuable work you do for the glory of the Lord and the good of his people.”

]]>“With so many Bible translations available, GOD’S WORD is the breakout choice. It’s clear and contemporary, yet intelligent and elegant. Its refreshing style communicates powerfully. Most important, it’s thoroughly accurate.”

To see the word of God in image! That is often how this translation has come across to me. It communicates the image very clearly due to it's simplicity and truth.... it is a trustworthy translation. Definitely this is a great first Bible to read through.

“Growing up as a young Christian, the GOD’S WORD Translation was one that really helped me in my understanding of God’s word. It was the ‘GOD’S WORD NEW TESTAMENT Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’ version that played a vital role in my early Christian journey and does to this day—the memories I still cherish! Thank you for a translation that is both faithful to the original languages and a delight to read! May the Lord richly bless you and may the GOD’S WORD Bible continue to encourage and inspire those who have ears to hear!”

“I’ve been a Bible collector and reader since I became a Christian 17 years ago and I have to say, ‘I love the GOD’S WORD Translation Bible.’ This Bible is great for anybody wanting to get an easy, accurate understanding of the scriptures. Thank you!”

“This [GOD’S WORD] is truly an accurate and easy-to-read translation. It’s like sitting down with God the Father himself and having a meaningful conversation. Whether you’re a new Christian or a faith veteran, you can rest assured that with this Bible you’re holding God’s word in your hands.”

“I must have nearly all Bible translations available, but GOD’S WORD is by FAR my absolute favorite! I was in Bible class on Wednesday, and everyone read from the NIV—except me! During the class a very puzzling verse came up—I read it in GOD’S WORD and the answer was there ‘clear as a bell.’”

“I can not tell you how impressed I am with the GOD’S WORD translation of the Bible. I have been a Christian, Bible Student, and Collector for 30 years. This is the best, most consistent in style, and easy to read translation on the market. I have bought copies for family and friends. I have not been so excited about a Bible translation since 1971.”

“I bought my first New Testament about eight months ago, and went back the next day and bought the full bible. I have given away several already. I recently shared with my pastor my struggle with trying to read twenty or thirty books at once versus my normal eight or ten. He told me I needed to ‘fast’ for a month, just reading the Bible. I choose the GOD’S WORD translation because I wanted an accurate translation that made me crave more.
I have shared your translation with several pastors... [GOD’S WORD] is such a wonderful, concise, accurate, READABLE translation. Unlike the New Living Translation and The Message, GOD’S WORD still has a prose-like beauty.... I think a fair gauge is if you read two or three Psalms out of a translation, and you aren’t moved, then something is probably missing in the translation—and it’s not necessarily you!”

“Just wanted you to know that I am reading my GOD’S WORD Bible with more enthusiasm than I could have ever thought! It is so easy to read. I wish I’d known about it sooner! I have had this Bible for about 2 weeks and I’ve read more of the Bible in those 2 weeks than I have in months of reading. I read all of Romans yesterday (Sunday). I couldn’t put the GOD’S WORD Bible down!”

“I’ve been using GOD’S WORD exclusively in my teaching since I found it in 1996. So many people have told me it has made the Bible understandable for them for the very first time. Many of these people have advanced degrees [lawyers and doctors] so I think we often underestimate how effective simple communication in familiar words can be. Thank you for this translation. I don’t know what I would do without it. You don’t put barriers between people and God’s word. Instead, you reach out across the bridge of effective translation to deliver the message of God’s heart as he intended.”

“When I read GOD’S WORD I totally understand what is going on because it’s written in the language I have been taught all of my life! It’s smooth and totally comprehensible. When I was younger, I really could have used a Bible that could speak to me the way GOD’S WORD does. I plan to use GOD’S WORD with my son. He’s three so he can’t read yet, but one day he will and I know GOD’S WORD will be an invaluable tool for him in his study. Thank you so much for your most valuable gift. Our family will cherish it for many, many years to come.”

“I just received the large print version of GOD’S WORD and I simply cannot tell you how much I love this Bible! First of all, the look of the Bible can only be described as beautiful! After admiring all the surface qualities of my new Bible I wanted to get into the Bible itself. I started with the Quick Start at the beginning the GOD’S WORD, and whoever wrote it has a real heart for God and I pray they are blessed. It was very well written and I was growing increasingly hopeful that I finally found the perfect Bible for me. Then I read the Preface and was very pleased with the way everything was handled in the translation process. Last but not least, I began looking up my favorite verses and I knew I finally found my Bible! My search for the right Bible began when I first became a Christian 13 years ago. I started with the Good News Bible and was told that I should only be using the King James Version of the Bible because it was the only Bible that was the real inerrant Word of God. I was advised to read the book by Gail Riplinger called ‘New Age Bible Versions,’ and after reading her book I was horrified and I became a ‘King James only’ advocate, yet I couldn’t understand most of what I read. There finally came a point where I stopped reading the Bible altogether because I couldn’t really understand the King James version and I felt too guilty reading any other version. Finally I read a counter-argument against Gail Riplinger’s book that pointed out all the good qualities of the newer translations. So I finally allowed myself the freedom to experience some of these versions, such as the Living Bible, the NIV, and the New Living Translation; however, even though I could understand these much better, there was still something lacking—the Living Bible was too childish, the NIV was boring, and the New Living Translation was okay. That’s how I happened to find your website—I was still looking for the right Bible, and now I’ve finally found it! My husband was so impressed with my new Bible that he wants me to order one for him also, which I will do right after I send this email. I’m so happy and impressed with what I’ve received so far that I have every intention of ordering all of your other books (the devotionals), etc. I also plan on buying a copy of GOD’S WORD for my mother, sister, and daughter for Christmas presents this year. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for giving me my most prized possession—God’s REAL word! May the Lord richly bless your mission society for your goal to reach the world with GOD’S WORD. It truly is the best Bible I’ve ever read!”

“My personalized copy of GOD’S WORD arrived earlier this morning. After yesterday’s (September 11, 2001) horrific tragedies in New York City and Washington, D.C., nothing could have been more unexpected or vitally critical to reconstructing our world.
When systems fail, crises explode, chaos descends, and the ordinary is from-this-day-forward forever changed, the simplicity of an easy-to-read Bible translation is a godsend!
When life is reduced to the instinctual for surviving today, our communication is also reduced to basic, essential language. This is what the Bible which was delivered today represents: essential communication from God for people in a survival mentality... easy to read and remember....”

“I’m setting here reading the Bible [GOD’S WORD].... I don’t want to lay it down. It is so easy to read. I can understand the Bible more clearly. Although I do love reading the King James Version, at times I do not fully understand the Scripture I read. I can read a Scripture in the King James Version and then go to this same Scripture in GOD’S WORD. What a difference!”

“The thing we’ve noticed about GOD’S WORD is that it is so easy to understand ‘at first glance.’ You don’t need to ‘think’ when you read it... IT speaks directly to your heart... it is truly a blessing!”

“I really enjoy this translation... the GOD’S WORD translation stirs the emotion to want to read!”

“I have been doing just what you suggested-- comparing translations with my professors. I had to read a verse in one of my classes, Romans 5:1 (which is one of my favorite verses). After reading it my professor asked, ‘What translation is that? That was right on!’ It [GOD’S WORD] keeps proving itself without my help. Every comment I get on this translation is, ‘I can’t believe how clear and accurate it is!’”
Hank
“You know, it has been about a year since you put the GOD’S WORD translation into my hands. Reading that translation has affected my walk with Jesus more than anything else I’ve ever experienced... I often go back to the KJV and reread certain passages that come alive for me in GOD’S WORD. I continually ask myself, ‘How did I ever miss this before?’ I explain it this way: ‘[The natural English in] GOD’S WORD is much closer to the experiences that I actually have in walking with Jesus.’ I could never connect those experiences with the language of the KJV before, and that caused a lot of confusion in my walk.”

“I must begin by saying that through this translation of the Holy Bible your ministry has brought me a whole new perspective of the word of God. It has showed me that I can open up the Bible and receive revelation of God’s words with little or no confusion. God has allowed me to see and know him better than I ever have before....”
Richard Robinett
“I am currently reading Jeremiah in your translation and was interested in your usage of the term ‘Lord of Armies.’ Comparing it with several other modern translations, I noted that most liked the term ‘Lord of Hosts.’ Going to a key word reference work I found that ‘Lord of Armies’ was one possible meaning of the original.... The term is used so many times that it kept the image of the city under siege in my mind as I read. I am sure that you have gotten criticism for ‘changing the original,’ but it changed the way I thought about Jeremiah and burned the image of an attacking army into my mind.
I have had your translation for a couple of years and I have used it for cross-checking the meaning of a verse as I studied.... I will read the whole Bible from your translation at this time.... When I became a new convert (in my late twenties) I started with the Living Bible and have used several others since. Lately, I have tried to read an entire new translation every year. It is amazing how much that has changed my thinking about the Bible. Others can argue about what the Bible says. I know that it says, ‘READ ME!’ I have my favorites and GOD’S WORD is up there!”

“I congratulate your translation team on an excellent combination of accuracy and readability. I have compared many, many verses across many, many versions and I am very impressed with GOD’S WORD. I own about 15 different Bibles, but I now believe that the only ones that a person really needs to have to get a clear picture of the original texts are the NASB, NKJV, and GOD’S WORD. I am a Bible junkie, and yet I had no idea that GOD’S WORD was such an accurate translation. I thought it was just another easy-to-read opinion of what the Bible says. Most of the ‘easy read’ versions read more like verse-by-verse commentaries.... Again, congratulations!”

“Over the past few months I have purchased all of the major Bible translations, many in ‘Study Bible’ format, as we use different translations in the Bible study better translations and after using a search engine on the Internet looking for ‘Bible publishers’ I found your home page.
Having just received the GOD’S WORD translation, I have begun to use it for daily Bible study and prayer. It offers very clear meaning of the verses compared to all of the other Bibles I have... now I am using it exclusively...”

“GOD’S WORD has certainly been fresh and focused. I bought it as an ‘unknown’—without recommendation.... Its clear and concise message is warm and compelling.... I assuredly recommend GOD’S WORD to bring ‘Life and Light,’ ‘Purpose and Hope’ to the people of today, and thank God for the great blessing it has brought to my life. Thank you for promoting and marketing such a ‘treasure’!”

“GOD’S WORD is the type of Bible I have been looking for for over 60 years ... as my eyes grow dimmer and my body grows weaker I am truly thankful for your fine work in using words in [translating] the Bible that we all can understand ... I am truly thankful for GOD’S WORD.”

“After discovering your fine translation, I was so excited about it (I was teaching the Book of Jeremiah at the time) that I began actively promoting it. Since then, many of my students have purchased copies and consistently remark on how it is opening up the meaning of the Bible to them. Your clear, well thought-out presentations without long sentences and semicolons and absence of mysterious theological words help many of my students immensely. The graphic presentations of poetry are without comparison and greatly assist in teaching.”

“Today was the very first time I came across your Bible translation, I read the introduction and a few chapters. I said to myself, ‘At last, a Bible I can truly understand because it is written in plain English.’ I really like the layout of your Bible.”

“I would like to inform you of the great value that the GOD’S WORD translation has been to me. It has become the primary tool for translating Biblical stories and lessons into the American Sign Language. This language is a conceptual language, and many of the difficult theological terms such as “justified,’ ‘sanctification,’ ‘righteousness’ do not have any ASL equivalent signs. It is vitally important that we communicate complete understanding to the Deaf we serve. The GOD’S WORD translation makes this task relatively simple because you have already defined these things for the reader. It is quite easy to interpret directly from the text itself. This too allows for a smooth transition from one language to another.... I thank you for all the work you have done to bring this wonderful translation into being.”
